In memory of Dobri
Angelo.art
I dedicate this work to the memory of Dobri.
My name is Martin — son of Angelo, grandson of Dobri, a great man of knowledge who remains forever in my heart.
I was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, the sixth oldest city in the world, a place layered with history and art. It was there, at the city's Tsanko Lavrenov art school, that I first shaped what would become a lifelong practice.
Human beings are cosmopolitan by nature, and art is our universal language. I've come to believe the impulse to create isn't something taught — it's something you're born carrying. Painters, poets, musicians, inventors: what unites us is the same rare gift, imagination.
I've been a lucid dreamer for as long as I can remember. That state — half awake, half elsewhere — is where I go looking for inspiration, and for the freedom of perception that waking life rarely offers.
For most of my life I chose not to sell my original work. I still believe real art is made first for the artist's own pleasure, not for profit — which is why I've always kept my art and my income separate.
What has changed is that I now offer prints. Not "limited editions" in the usual sense — I don't believe a print can ever truly be limited, since anything printed can be rescanned and reproduced. The only work that is genuinely one of a kind is the original, made by hand. What you'll find here are prints of that original work, a way to bring a piece of it into your own space.
This is my official web gallery. I'm glad to share my art with you.
